Here is the opening scene from the first game of the series,
Dwenodon: The First Element of the Cycle of Joining.

That which was broken, rejoined shall be,
And taken from one that is cruel.
With purest of soul shall he mend The Three,
and so be worthy to rule.

You are falling over backwards. All you can see is chicken feathers and dust swirling into the gray October sky as your back hits the ground.

"Easy there lad", the old woman chuckles as she lifts you back to your feet and dusts off your jerkin. "Best be watching where you run. Now take your games elsewhere before your get yourself in trouble."

"'Tis no game," you reply, still somewhat out of breath. "A stranger is spying on me, following me wherever I go."

The poultry vendor squints her eyes at you and frowns. "Not the strange man in black that everyone in Stonebrook is going on about?"

"The very same," you tell her.

"You'd best not be fooling with the likes of him," she whispers, furtively making the blessing sign with her right hand. "He's evil of the worst kind. A wizard, and there's no doubt about it."

"Then what can I, a boy, do against such as him?"

"There's only one thing for it, lad," she tells you gravely. "Get ye to the Temple of Seven and seek the help of Brother Thaddeus."

"But..."

"But me no buts, lad. Be gone. I don't want that spawn of evil nosing around my stall. Shoo! Shoo!" With a quick shove she pushes you out into the lane.

Baskets and Bowls

The cobbled market lane runs south from the square. To the west lies the poultry vendor's stall, and to the east, a nook filled with baskets and bowls. Some ways off to the south you can see the green hills of the countryside through the iron bars of South Cross gate.

The Market Square

You are standing in the center of the Stonebrook plaza. A small plaza by any standards, but perhaps the most important social gathering place in the village. Four cobbled lanes enter the plaza from each of the four compass points. In the center of the square is a fountain surrounded by a large pool of water. At the western edge of the pool the excess water overflows the pool and drains into a long, narrow iron grate in the cobbles.

You see a fountain here.
